A 1.3 million euro project, funded by the European Union, aims to bolster crisis preparedness within communities across selected Sri Lankan districts and Maldivian islands.
The REDEFINE project will address drivers of conflict linked to the environment, climate change and natural resources, the Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives said in a statement.
“The European Union is committed to assisting Sri Lanka and the Maldives in achieving sustainable and inclusive development,” Carmen Moreno, Ambassador of the European Union was quoted as saying in the statement.
“Strengthening youth- and women-led activities will be a primary factor in enabling a sustainable pathway to innovative environmental conflict resolution strategies.”
The 3-year project is funded by the European Union and implemented by Chrysalis, a local NGO, and SIGS – Small Geographic Island Society, a Maldivian NGO
