Sri Lanka’s finance ministry will spend 110 billion rupees in 2025 for salary hikes announced in the budget, Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.
“With all the difficulties, we have set aside 110 billion for the public sector pay hike,” he told reporters at the last cabinet briefing.
“Within the next 18 months we will spend 330 billion just to increase the public servants’ salary.”
The government has already approved the hiring of 5,882 workers.
