Power disruption hits Colombo, suburbs after transmission line tripping

A power disruption was reported in several areas of Colombo, Kalutara and nearby regions earlier today following a tripping incident on the Biyagama–Pannipitiya main transmission line.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) confirmed that the failure affected multiple substations, leading to widespread outages across the region.

CEB technical teams were swiftly dispatched to address the issue, and power has since been restored to most of the affected areas.

Authorities stated that further investigations are underway to identify the cause of the incident and prevent similar disruptions in the future.
