Family’s ‘one-way journey’ to London ends in tragedy; Sri Lanka trip remembered in grief

In yet another soul-crushing story that left many heartbroken after the London-bound Air India flight crashed with 242 lives onboard, a ‘one-way journey’ of a beautiful family of 5 ended up in a tragedy.

As per PTI, Dr Kaumi Vyas and Dr Pratik Joshi- along with their three kids- Miraya Joshi, Pradyut Joshi, and Nakul Joshi, were onboard the crashed Air India Flight AI171. The family was all set to move to London. However, all 5 lost their lives after the plane crashed near the Ahmedabad airport on June 12, Thursday. Reportedly, the family had shared a wholesome picture with their relatives before the take off, which unfortunately ended up becoming their ‘last selfie’. The selfie went viral in an instant, leaving many emotional.

As per a social media post, Pratik Joshi was living in London for the past six years, while the other 4 were still in India. This year, the family finally completed all the paperwork and other arrangements before moving to London, including Dr Kaumi Vyas resigning from the private hospital she was working in. The family’s tragic story moved many to tears. Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post.

An image of the family taken during a visit to Kandy, Sri Lanka, is also being shared on International media. However, it is not yet known when the family visited Sri Lanka.

Dr Kaumi Vyas and Dr Pratik Joshi of Banswara died with their three children—Miraya, Pradyut, and Nakul—in the Air India Flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad, PTI said releasing the picture below.

Air India Flight AI171 crashed into the hostel mess of BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad’s Meghaninagar area, soon after its takeoff. The flight reportedly took off at 1:39 PM from Runway number 23 at the Ahmedabad airport, with 242 passengers and crew onboard. As per reports, former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also onboard the crashed flight.

“Pratik Joshi had been living in London for the past six years. A software professional, he had long dreamed of building a better future abroad for his wife and their three young children, who were staying back in India. After years of planning, paperwork, and patience, that dream was finally coming true. Just two days ago, his wife, Dr. Komi Vyas, a medical professional, resigned from her job in India. The bags were packed, the goodbyes said, the future waiting,” the post read.

“This morning, all five of them, filled with hope, excitement, and plans, boarded Air India flight 171 to London. Clicked this selfie, sent it to relatives. A one-way journey to begin a new life. But they never made it. The plane crashed. None of them survived,” the post further read.
