Sri Lanka government to draft new law on tourism

Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers have approved the drafting of a new law on tourism to reform the administrative structure of the sector, spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa said.

An expert committee led by the Secretary of the foreign and tourism ministry had prepared a concept paper, and it has been referred to the legal draftsman to make into a bill.

The new tourism law took into consideration changes suggested by tourism stakeholders Minister Jayatissa said.

Sri Lanka now has two state tourism bodies, a convention bureau and hotel school.
