Bus fare reduction suspended following fuel price hike

In the wake of the fuel price increase, the scheduled 2.5% reduction in bus fares, which was to take effect today, has been suspended, the National Transport Commission (NTC) said.

The decision comes after the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) increased fuel prices last night, with the price of auto diesel rising by Rs. 15.

In a statement, the NTC said the previously announced fare revision will not be implemented as planned, and a revised fare structure will be announced later today after reviewing the impact of the fuel price changes.
