
Sri Lanka’s Exports Surge Past $6.9 Bn in Just Five Months

Sri Lanka’s export sector has demonstrated steady and positive growth during the first five months of 2025, according to the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB).The country earned a total of USD 6,933.35 million in export revenue from January to May 2025, marking a 7.14% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
In May alone, total export earnings from goods and services amounted to USD 1,386.66 million, reflecting a 6.35% year-on-year growth. Merchandise exports for the month rose by 1.70%, generating USD 1,028.52 million in revenue.
From January to May, merchandise exports totaled USD 5,344.23 million, a 5.46% increase compared to the corresponding period last year.Meanwhile, the services export sector also saw a significant boost, with earnings reaching USD 1,589.12 million, representing a 13.20% growth over the same period in 2024.
