Wanniappa appointed acting DG of Civil Aviation

Mr. Rayhan Wanniappa officially assumed duties as the Acting Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) on July 3, 2025, following the retirement of AVM Sagara Kotakadeniya (Retd.), who served as DGCA since 2023.

A brief ceremony to mark the occasion was held at the CAASL headquarters, attended by CAASL Chairman Mr. Sunil Jayarathna, Deputy Director General (Air Safety Regulation) Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Deputy Director General (Aeronautical Services Regulation) Mr. M. A. K. Prasanna, and other senior officials.

Mr. Wanniappa, who joined the Authority in 2003, has held several senior roles throughout his tenure. His extensive experience and deep understanding of the aviation sector are expected to guide the CAASL into a new phase of regulatory excellence and strategic development.
