The world-renowned Ivorian reggae legend Alpha Blondy will take the stage in Sri Lanka for the very first time today, marking another fantastic day in the musical history of Sri Lanka.
The concert, scheduled to take place at Air Force Grounds, Colombo from 6.00 p.m., marks a significant cultural milestone as the island hosts its first large-scale international reggae concert.
Organised by Big Blast Events in collaboration with EarGear Productions and Yes101, the event has drawn widespread attention from music lovers and media across the country.
Speaking at a press conference held ahead of the event, Blondy expressed his joy and anticipation at performing in Sri Lanka. The media briefing featured key organisers and partners, including Mr. Vinod Melpitiya (Director, EarGear Productions), Mr. Kamal Munasinghe (Vice President, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts), and Mr. Buddhi Wickramanayake (COO, MBC Networks Pvt Ltd).
Alpha Blondy, the most influential artist after Bob Marley, arrived in Sri Lanka on July 16 to a warm welcome by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau officials at Bandaranaike International Airport.
Set to perform tonight with his legendary band Solar System, Blondy brings a powerful message of peace, unity, and justice through global hits like Jerusalem, Cocody Rock, and Brigadier Sabari, promising fans an unforgettable fusion of West African rhythms and classic reggae.
