MiAC hosts Thenuwara’s ‘Story of a Barrel’

Millennium Art Contemporary (MiAC) has announced a special Gallery Walk and Panel Discussion led by renowned Sri Lankan contemporary artist Prof. Chandragupta Thenuwara, as part of his latest exhibition, “The Story of a Barrel.”

The event will take place on Saturday, 16th August 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Millennium Art Contemporary gallery, located in Millennium City, Oruwala, Athurugiriya. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage directly with Prof. Thenuwara, exploring the themes, inspirations, and social commentary behind his latest works.

The exhibition, which opened on 5th August 2025, will continue until 30th August 2025, and will be open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM. The gallery will be closed on public holidays.

Prof. Thenuwara, known for his politically charged and socially conscious art, has often used barrels as a recurring motif in his work to highlight themes of militarization, urban transformation, and the impact of conflict on everyday life. “The Story of a Barrel” promises to further this exploration, offering a thought-provoking artistic narrative.
