Port City Colombo Wins Top Regional Award for Innovation and Sustainability

Port City Colombo has been named the “Best Knowledge Zone – Asia Pacific Region” and received a “Highly Commended” recognition for sustainability in the Global Free Zones of the Year 2025 awards by FDI Intelligence, the Financial Times’ foreign direct investment publication.
The recognition highlights Port City Colombo’s success in fostering an investor-friendly environment with modern regulations, strong dispute resolution mechanisms, and targeted incentives for IT, logistics, and professional services sectors.
The sustainability commendation recognised its eco-friendly urban design, including green public spaces and coastal protection initiatives.
CHEC Port City Colombo Managing Director Xiong Hongfeng said the award affirms the project’s role as a regional model for sustainable, knowledge-driven development.
Designed as a multi-billion-dollar FDI-funded SEZ, Port City Colombo aims to position Sri Lanka as a South Asian business and financial gateway, mirroring the success of Dubai and Singapore.
