Chinese companies to construct nearly 2000 houses in Sri Lanka

Chinese companies have been picked to construct nearly 2000 houses in Sri Lanka for low-income families under a Chinese Government funded program.

Under the project, 1,996 housing units will be constructed for low-income families in Sri Lanka, by 3 Chinese companies.

Bids had been called for from 8 bidders nominated by the government of China to construct the houses.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal presented by the Minister of Rural and Urban Development, Housing, and Construction to award the contracts, based on the recommendation of the Technical Evaluation Committee and the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
