Commercial Bank of Ceylon Expands Global Reach with DIFC Office

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon is set to strengthen its international presence by opening a Representative Office in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), a top financial hub in the MEASA region.

Sri Lanka’s largest private bank has secured a licence from the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) and plans to commence operations soon. This office will serve as a central contact point for clients in the UAE, particularly those from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Maldives.

The bank already boasts the most extensive international presence among Sri Lankan banks, with 20 branches in Bangladesh, a microfinance firm in Myanmar, and a full-fledged bank in the Maldives.

Chairman Sharhan Muhseen noted that Commercial Bank will be the first Sri Lankan bank to operate in the DIFC, marking a key step in achieving its strategic vision and supporting the global ambitions of its customers.
