Diana Gamage gets bail over failing to appear before court

Former State Minister Diana Gamage, on whom an arrest warrant was issued for failing to appear before court, was today released on a surety bail of Rs. 10 million by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.

The Magistrate observed that the bail order was made as the accused surrendered before the court following the issuing of a warrant for her immediate arrest and production over her absence.

On August 21, the court issued a warrant on Diana Gamage for failing to appear before court.

The Criminal Investigation Department’s Financial Crimes Investigation Division has filed seven cases against her, alleging that she obtained a passport by submitting false information in violation of the Immigration and Emigration Act and remained in Sri Lanka without a valid visa permit.
