France to support development of Sri Lanka clean energy sources

The Government of France will support the development of clean energy sources and increase energy efficiency in Sri Lanka.

In order to enhance cooperation in the energy sector between Sri Lanka and France, a special meeting was held Tuesday (03) between the French Ambassador to Sri Lanka Rémi Lambert, and Minister of Energy Kumara Jayakody, at the Ministry of Energy.

Discussions were held at length on enhancing energy cooperation between the two countries. Furthermore, the possibilities of developing clean energy sources, especially solar energy and wind energy project

It has explored the possibility of increasing the capacity of reservoirs associated with hydropower plants, technical and financial cooperation projects to improve energy efficiency and new policies and measures that can be taken to promote environmentally friendly energy were discussed here.

. This meeting is expected to further strengthen cooperation in the energy sector between Sri Lanka and France and contribute greatly to achieving the goal of promoting the use of clean, efficient and sustainable energy sources.
