Generator at Norochcholai to be shut for maintenance

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said the third generator at the Norochcholai coal power plant will be shut down for maintenance from midnight today (June 13).

Repairs are expected to take 25 days, during which the national grid will lose 300 megawatts of capacity.

However, CEB Media Spokesperson Dhammika Wimalaratne said there will be no disruptions to the power supply, as the other two generators at the plant remain operational.

Following the completion of repairs and the reconnection of the third generator, the first generator is scheduled to be taken offline for maintenance.
