Indian Mining Delegation Explores Investment Opportunities in Sri Lanka

A high-level Indian mining delegation, led by officials from India’s Ministry of Mines, is currently visiting Sri Lanka to explore potential collaborations in the island’s mineral and mining sectors, according to the Indian High Commission in Colombo.

The delegation’s visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and assess investment opportunities in key mineral-rich areas.

According to Sri Lanka’s Board of Investment (BOI), the country holds significant mineral resources, including 7.5 million metric tons of Ilmenite, Rutile, and Zircon, primarily located in Pulmudai and Puttalam.

Additionally, Sri Lanka possesses 45,000 metric tons of graphite and 60 million metric tons of Apatite.India and Pakistan receive duty concessions on machinery imports under the Indo-Sri Lanka and Pakistan-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreements
