Large-Scale Fraud in Vehicle Registration exposed at MTD Narahenpita Office”

Numerous fraudulent activities in motor vehicle registrations have been uncovered, including the theft of registration books.

Details reveal that 12 vehicle registration books, under the custody of a senior official at the Narahenpita Motor Commissioner’s Office, went missing, and leading to an investigation into the matter.

Preliminary findings were presented before the Colombo Additional Magistrate, and telephone companies were instructed to provide call data records for all staff assigned to the vehicle registration division to Borella Police.

Accordingly, a full investigation into the theft of these “books” has commenced. It has also been disclosed that there are no internal CCTV recordings within the registration division. Consequently, further orders were issued to conduct a fingerprint analysis.
