Nuwara Eliya Chamber of Commerce established

In a bid to encourage and enhance exports by businessmen and industry representatives in the Nuwara Eliya District, the Chamber of Commerce – Nuwara Eliya was established last week at the Nuwara Eliya Cooperative Holiday Resort.

Senior journalist Douglas Nanayakkara has been appointed the founding President of the organisation, while M. S. Hussain and M. Irshad have been appointed General Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.

Former CEO of the Central Province Chamber of Commerce, Ashoka Abeywickrama; Attorney-at-Law and Company Secretary Priyantha Ranasinghe; and Assistant Director of the Nuwara Eliya Small Enterprises Development Division, P. G. N. Bandara, were among the participants.
