President says stopping buses on expressway wrong; mulls disciplinary action

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake criticized the incident where buses heading to Colombo for the NPP May Day rally were parked along the Southern Expressway and stressed the need to take disciplinary action against those responsible.

While speaking at a television programme telecast last night, he said action must be taken against the drivers, police officers who allowed the buses to park there and the NPP organizers who supported it.

“This is something that must not have happened,” he said.

The President said an organiser is appointed in charge of every bus and that he had called for the list of organisers who were in charge of the particular buses that were parked on the Expressway.
