PUCSL to Hold Public Consultation Over CEB Solar Power Shutdown

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) will conduct a special public consultation in July to review recent decisions by the Ministry of Energy and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) affecting the renewable energy sector.
The spotlight will be on the controversial directive issued by the CEB to temporarily disconnect large-scale solar power systems during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year period.
PUCSL Director of Communication Jayanat Herat confirmed that the consultation will specifically address the April directive, which required ‘Net Plus’ and ‘Net Plus Plus’ solar systems of over 100kW capacity to shut down from 10–21 April, citing grid stability concerns due to reduced holiday demand.
