SL opens 66th state pharmaceutical outlet in Kegalle,

Sri Lanka’s State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) today August 6,2025 inaugurated its 66th State Pharmaceutical Outlet (Rajya Osu Sala) in Kegalle, located at 152 Nuvana Para.

This new branch marks the SPC’s mission to provide quality medicines at affordable and fair prices to the public.

The opening of the Kegalle outlet aligns with a special island-wide initiative to establish State Pharmaceutical Outlets, a concept spearheaded by the current Health Minister to meet public demand.

This follows the 65th State Pharmaceutical Outlet, which was opened by the SPC in Narahenpita last June.

The new Kegalle branch is poised to offer several benefits to its patrons. The public will have access to quality medicines, enabling them to purchase high-quality, standard medicines under the guidance of experienced pharmacists. Additionally, a 5% special discount will be offered to specific groups, including senior citizens, pregnant mothers, children under 5 years old, and holders of the “Ranaviru Viru Sara” card. Furthermore, to ensure public confidence, all medicines are subjected to four stages of testing using modern technical equipment at the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation’s quality laboratory before being released to the market.

The Kegalle State Pharmaceutical Outlet will operate from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturdays.

The State Pharmaceuticals Corporation, established in 1971 by Professor Senaka Bibile, has been dedicated to providing quality medicines at fair prices to the Sri Lankan people for over 53 years. Its primary objective remains to deliver high-quality, proven medicines at reasonable prices.

Looking ahead, the SPC has plans to further expand its reach, with new State Pharmaceutical Outlets scheduled to open in the districts of Batticaloa, Trincomalee, and Puttalam in the coming months.
