Sri Lanka not informed by USAID on project cancellation

Sri Lanka has not been informed in writing by USAID about cancelling projects with the government, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Harshana Suriyapperuma said.

“After the executive order by the American President pertaining to providing international aid, USAID has not informed us in writing up till now what will happen to the money USAID supplies to the Sri Lanka government,” Suriyapperuma told parliament in response to a query.

He said “As per the agreements we have with USAID on obtaining aid, if there is a freeze on aid, they have to inform us in writing.”
