
Sri Lanka’s E-Commerce Market Set to Surge, Says Bamagate CEO

Sri Lanka’s e-commerce sector is expected to grow steadily, with online user penetration forecast to rise from 13.3% in 2025 to 14.1% by 2029, according to Bamagate.com CEO Douglas Nijanthan.
Speaking at the launch of the company’s ‘Deals Offer’ campaign in Colombo, Nijanthan said increased internet and smartphone use is driving online shopping, with 43% of Sri Lanka’s 11 million internet users now buying online.
Independent analysis estimates the local e-commerce market will hit US$5.1 billion by 2027.To tap into this growth, Bamagate.com has rolled out promotions like free gifts, daily deals, and buy-one-get-one-free offers across categories including electronics, fashion, and homeware.
Nijanthan highlighted the power of platform-exclusive deals and announced partnerships with brands to offer coupon codes, free shipping, and extended warranties.“With Bamagate.com, shoppers gain access to exclusive deals and smarter savings,” he said.
