Varun Beverages, the India-based franchise holder for PepsiCo with operations extending to Africa, is set to acquire a 50 percent stake in Everest Industrial Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, a Sri Lanka-based bottle cooler manufacturer, for 3.75 million US dollars, according to media reports.
Everest Industrial Lanka, located within a Board of Investment (BOI) zone, specializes in manufacturing commercial glass-door refrigerators used for storing and displaying soft drinks. The company is a subsidiary of a UAE-based group.
This strategic acquisition will enable Varun Beverages to source visi-coolers internally, improve supply chain efficiency, and achieve potential cost savings over time, the India-based ET Brand Equity portal reported.
The report further noted that Varun Beverages has already received approval for the acquisition from Sri Lanka’s BOI, and the transaction is expected to be finalized by May 30. The company already manages PepsiCo’s bottling operations in Sri Lanka.
