Sri Lanka is looking for bidders to provide 15 million polycarbonate cards for the country’s electronic national identity card project (e-NIC), Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.
“Under the Electronic National Identity Card Project (e-NIC) to be implemented in the future, an electronic National Identity Card should be issued to all Sri Lankan citizens over 15 years,” Jayatissa told reporters.
“We need about 17 million cards to re-register Sri Lankan citizens and issue a new identity card.”
The Cabinet has approved the proposal to purchase 15 million polycarbonate cards from the successful bidder, he said.
